Shoeshine Boys

Thriving businesses these days in this part of China are the shoeshine shops sprinkled all over the city. All are operating at full capacity at this time of year. There were even long queues at the one I went to today…

It was great to have my dirty shoes cleaned, polished, new shoe laces and end up looking as good as new plus a foot massage all for about U$0.30!

The main reason for this is the huge amount of dirt, slush, and mud all over the place and this obviously gets shoes dirty very fast! This is one of the signs that spring is finally here and I welcome the fact that I have to visit the local shoeshine boy a little more often this time of year.
